Part of  Brooklyn Workforce Innovations, this non-profit offers a training program as a Production Assistant in film and television.  You must be a low-income resident of NYC to apply.

Aspire TV in Atlanta, Georgia

UPtv/aspireTV’s internship opportunities give students a real-world learning experience and exposure to the television industry. Internships are the perfect way to gain experience while learning what a career at UPtv/aspireTV might hold in store for you.

As part of DCTV, PRO-TV offers free training and internships to youth under 21:   “PRO-TV teaching artists mentor students through a rich curriculum of formal workshops and field experience. GHETTO FILM SCHOOL

Ghetto Film School (GFS) is an award-winning nonprofit founded in 2000 to educate, develop and celebrate the next generation of great American storytellers. With locations in New York CityLos Angeles and London, GFS is the most elite and inclusive film academy in the world, equipping students for top universities and careers in the creative industries through two tracks: an introductory education program for high school students and early-career support for alumni and young professionals. GFS annually serves over 6,000 individuals, 14-34 years of age.

Digital Assistant Director Training Program

The New York Assistant Director Training Program is designed to provide opportunities for a limited number of individuals to become Assistant Directors in film, television & commercial production. This is a two-year Program consisting of 350 days of on-the-job training combined with monthly seminars. Trainees are placed on the sets of various features, television series and commercials shooting primarily in the New York City vicinity working under the supervision of DGA members – Second Assistant Directors, First Assistant Directors and Unit Production Managers – until graduation. Upon completion of the Program, graduates are qualified to join the DGA (Directors Guild of America) as Second Assistant Directors.
